Why Choose KSC for your DVA Claim?

Veterans Helping Veterans

Founded by ADF veterans Luke Armstrong and Matt Dumars, KSC began after they navigated the DVA claims process for themselves and a few mates. What started as a small favour turned into a business dedicated to supporting veterans through a respectful, stress-free process.

Experience

Since March 2020, we’ve helped over 3,000 veterans successfully lodge DVA claims. As veterans ourselves, we bring deep understanding and professionalism to every claim.

Collaboration with DVA

We work closely with DVA, many of whom are veterans, for the best outcomes for our clients by fostering a positive, collaborative relationship.

DVA Claims – Frequently Asked Questions

What is the role of the DVA?
The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) exists to uphold the nation’s commitment to support current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families. DVA is recognised globally for providing comprehensive services and support to ADF veterans and their families.
What types of DVA claims can we assist with?

KSC helps Australian veterans with claims related to injuries or conditions arising from ADF service. We support claims under three Acts:

  • MRCA (Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004): For ADF service-related conditions after June 30, 2004.
  • DRCA (Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1998): For non-operational service conditions prior to 2004 and operational service between 1994 and 2004.
  • VEA (Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986): For wartime service, certain operational deployments, and specific peacetime service between December 7, 1972, and June 30, 2004.
What support does KSC provide throughout the claims process?

KSC offers end-to-end support, including:

  • Guiding you through each step of the claims process.
  • Helping gather the required information and evidence.
  • Assisting with the submission of your claim.
  • Liaising directly with DVA on your behalf.
  • Lodging appeals when claims are not accepted or assessed accurately by DVA.
How does the initial consultation work?

We provide a complimentary 30-minute call to discuss your claim, answer any questions, and explain what DVA may need from you. This session helps clarify the process and allows you to discuss any concerns.

What is the typical compensation amount for DVA claims?

The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) does not offer a standard or “average” payout for any conditions, including tinnitus. Each claim is assessed individually, with compensation amounts determined by factors such as the severity of the condition, its effect on the individual’s quality of life, and their capacity to work.

What happens if my claim is denied or under-assessed by the DVA?

If a claim is denied or does not accurately reflect the medical evidence, KSC can help by:

  • Reviewing the DVA’s assessment.
  • Filing an Appeal if appropriate and necessary.
  • Consulting with the Veterans Review Board (VRB) to seek a review of DVA’s decision.
Can KSC help with Appeals?

Yes, KSC assists with Appeals, including determining the likelihood of success to ensure the appeal has a strong foundation. We aim to prevent unnecessary stress from appeals that may not have a valid basis.

Does KSC work with the Veterans Review Board?

Yes, we regularly liaise with the Veterans Review Board (VRB) on behalf of veterans. With an in-depth understanding of what the VRB requires to overturn decisions or increase compensation, KSC advocates effectively for veterans’ rights and needs.

How do I start the process with KSC?

To get started, reach out via our Live Chat or fill out the contact form on this page. Our team will respond promptly to guide you on the next steps.

Does the DVA cover arthritis?

Yes, osteoarthritis is one of the most common conditions for which veterans submit claims to the DVA. Veterans with osteoarthritis can access various allied health services, including chiropractic care, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietetics, and psychology, as well as any necessary medications and medical treatments.
